Refractory cutaneous lichenoid sarcoidosis treated with tranilast

We report a case of lichenoid cutaneous sarcoidosis that was refractory to conventional therapy but was successfully treated with tranilast. A 76-year-old Japanese man was referred to our clinic with asymptomatic papules and erythematous plaques on his trunk and extremities (, A-C). He was in good health and was not taking any oral medications. His superficial lymph nodes were not enlarged, and his laboratory examinations, including urinalysis, peripheral blood count, and blood chemistries—including blood sugar, hemoglobinA1c, angiotensin-converting enzyme, and calcium—were all normal.
